Coleen wins an award, talks about Swine Flu

Read Coleen’s column from May 5th. She talks about the Swine Flu, her new fringe and her holiday plans, which have now been changed. She also reveals that she recently won an award – the Everywoman Ambassador Award. Congrats Coleen! Read it all below and after the jump:

Swine flu is gripping the nation. The spread of the virus is all over the news and people are getting really scared about it.

A lot of my friends have booked to go to Mexico on holiday in the summer but I think they have changed their minds now.

Some of the airlines have stopped flights going out there and are unsure when they will be back on.

I was meant to go with my friends but I decided not to – not because of the flu, but because I’m pregnant and I think I would enjoy a quieter holiday.

The government is stockpiling all these face masks for people to wear so the germs can’t spread. It might seem over the top, but we all have to think about our health.

So if I had to, I would wear a mask, it’s important. At the moment, there have only been a couple of cases in this country, so hopefully we won’t have to.

I finally got a fringe cut in. My hairdresser said it was best to get one now rather than later and I am really happy with it. It’s a wispy fringe, so it’s quite soft around my face.

The last one I had was much more severe. I really like this look! I also won an Everywoman Ambassador Award recently for being a positive role model for young women.

I’ve been told that I am an inspiration to young women because I have achieved so much in such a short time. I am very pleased that I have been honoured like this. I am very flattered.

I am so proud of my business achievements. I am conscious my life is under constant scrutiny and hope my involvement with Everywoman will encourage other young women to fulfil their career potential.

You can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.
