Coleen’s Christmas at Alder Hey

Coleen Rooney shows there’s more to her than just being the millionaire wife of a footballer in an upcoming TV documentary.

Recounting personal experience from her hospital visits with her little sister Rosie, Coleen opens the doors of Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool to the public in a ITV Christmas special.

In Coleen’s Christmas at Alder Hey, which will be screened on Christmas Day morning, Coleen urges viewers to think about the less fortunate as the nation opens their presents.

In the hour-long special, the 22-year-old chats to hospital staff about their ongoing hard work to help sick children and why the festive season is so important to the young patients.

Coleen says: ‘Christmas is all about children, and the staff at Alder Hey work particularly hard to make Christmas on the wards an especially memorable one for all its young patients.

‘The hospital is particularly special to me as my little sister Rosie is a regular patient here.

‘It’s a place of inspiration and hope, full of Christmas joy all year round.’

During the show, Coleen shows the excitement of the run-up to Christmas, including hosting a Nativity play and unwrapping presents.

Coleen lets viewers into family life with the McLoughlins, which involve regular trips to the hospital for her adopted sister Rosie’s treatment.

The 10-year-old suffers from a rare genetic disorder Rett Syndrome, a condition which means she can’t walk or talk and has to be fed through a tube.

Coleen, Rosie and their parents Tony and Colette visit Alder Hey’s special light and sensory room at the hospital and explain how invaluable it is for children like Rosie.

Coleen talks to parents of sick children in the hospital about the illnesses treated their and why Alder Hey is so important.
